How this site works

This independent planning site turns public guidance and transparent formulas into practical septic-system screening tools. It does not issue permits or replace a site evaluation.

Last reviewed:

Methodology

We start with government regulations, agency manuals, and standards-oriented references. Each calculator then exposes the assumptions needed to turn those sources into a usable estimate.

The tools are checked for unit consistency, boundary behavior, and matching on-page explanations. Dates on pages show the latest material content review.

Planning, not permitting

Results are screening estimates. Local health departments, permits, soil evaluations, and licensed professionals control final design.

Traceable inputs

Each tool explains its formula, assumptions, units, and public references near the calculation.

Conservative handoff

When a rule varies by location, the calculator flags the limitation instead of presenting a universal approval value.

Source and review policy

Primary public sources are preferred. A mature industry source may be used for market ranges or product dimensions when no single government table exists; it is labeled and never presented as a permit rule.

Corrections and feedback

Found an outdated rule, broken source, translation issue, or calculation edge case? Send a correction with enough detail for us to reproduce it.

  1. Include the full page URL and language.
  2. Quote the affected value or sentence and link the replacement authority.
  3. Do not include private health, financial, or property records.
